The Euromicro Technical Committee on Real-Time Systems is responsible for organising the Euromicro Conference on Real-Time Systems (ECRTS).
It promotes state-of-the-art research and research for applications with temporal constraints, real-time systems. Such computing systems have to provide results which are not only correct, but also delivered in time. Instead of average behavior as for standard computing, real-time systems have to allow for guarantees that the temporal requirements will be met.
ECRTS is the premier European venue for presenting research into the broad area of real-time and embedded systems. Along with RTSS and RTAS, ECRTS ranks as one of the three top international conferences on real-time systems. Google Scholar Metrics lists ECRTS as top conference per h5-index, CAPES (Brasil) as A1, ASN (Italy) as A, ERA (Australia) A, CORE (Australisia) A.
ECRTS has been in the forefront of the real-time community in introducing innovations such as Work-in-Progress Poster sessions, Call for Actions, Artifact Evaluation; open-access proceedings, etc., into the larger real-time computing community.
ECRTS began as a workshop in 1989, progressing to become a major international conference in 1998. ECRTS has its roots in the real-time laboratories and research groups in both academia and industry throughout Europe and across the world.
Since 2017, ECRTS has been applying an open access publication model in collaboration with LIPIcs – Leibniz International Proceedings in Informatics established in cooperation with Schloss Dagstuhl –Leibniz Center for Informatics.
The conference addresses research on all aspects of real-time systems. These include, but are not limited to:
- Embedded/RT Systems Design
- Scheduling Design and Analysis
- WCET Analysis
- Power, Energy and/or Thermal Aware RTS
- RT operating Systems and Middleware
- Mixed Criticality Design & Assurance
- (Wireless) Sensor networks
- RT Applications
- Tools and Compilers for embedded systems
ECRTS is complemented by a series of satellite workshops, which provide lively forums for discussion and interactions on more specific topics.
